May's allegation that the Confrontation Clause applies to testimonial hearsay introduced against a
criminal defendant; that hearsay consists of out-of-court statements offered to prove the truth of
the matter asserted; and that statements offered for their truth are subject to confrontation
protections. May cites Anderson v. United States for the distinction between hearsay and nonhearsay uses of out-of-court statements, and relies upon that distinction to support his claim that
