Cited to Support

May's allegation that U.S. Park Ranger Martin Golden recorded portions of the law-enforcement investigation at the Blue Ridge Parkway crime scene, including statements made by Darrell Godfrey and discussions among investigating officers regarding Godfrey's credibility. The transcript is cited to establish that officers expressed doubts about Godfrey's account of events, discussed concerns that evidence may have been cleaned from the residence, and described Godfrey as "lying his ass off." The recording is further cited to establish that Golden observed Godfrey to be completely covered in blood and that Godfrey stated he met the Defendant at Broughton Hospital, heard voices, had run out of medication, and was attempting to obtain medication. May relies upon this transcript to support his claim that material impeachment evidence regarding Godfrey's credibility, and mental health and reliability as the State’s primary witness existed but was not fully presented to the jury because Ranger Golden was not called to testify and the recording itself was not introduced into evidence.
